After collecting all the necessary track and the finish line display, I have finally
made the purchase of the initial track section to begin the conversion from Pinewood
Derby track to Hot Wheels Downhill Racing. The images shown are the end of the raceway,
which will feature a seven foot flat race to the finish after an initial drop starting
approximately seven to eight feet high and spanning somewhere between 30 and 40 feet before
hitting the flat section. This will be similar to the tracks used at the conventions but will
put a bit of a twist to racing with the flat section giving a more realistic finish.
This particular section is seven feet end to end and is 28 inches wide featuring 8 lanes of racing.
My plan is to design and incorporate an electronic start gate to eliminate the possibility of
human error. The overlay on the track that I need to design will allow the use of velcro to hold the
track in place, and will allow for easy transition back to Pinewood Derby racing if there is
a request to use the track for Pinewood racing in the future. I should have this design finished
within the next month and make the purcase of the curve section and other flat sections, and hopefully
the track will be finished by the end of summer.
This section is where featured stories and articles will go.
